Modern Business Solutions – 58 million stolen record

Contrary to its name, Modern Business Solutions (MBS) did not take a modern approach to protect its users’ data, so it is not surprising that hackers managed to get 58 million records in a direct attack without any problems. In addition to name and address, the data also revealed who owns what car, which is good information for a car theft gang.

Trillian was hacked

Trillian is one of the most popular chat clients, allowing you to connect to multiple platforms simultaneously. It has attracted the attention of hackers as well as users. The application has not been hacked, but the vBulletin forum has been, and many users’ names and email addresses have been compromised. The passwords are protected by MD5 encryption, which can be decrypted, but it takes time.

Bitburger: Missing data

A data theft attack against Bitburger occurred in July; the attackers again gained access to personal data, including full name, postal address, and login passwords. Fortunately, the Passwords were encrypted and could only be used after decryption. Bitburger has, of course, informed those affected, and the error has been corrected; no material damage has been caused.

Armor Group – Hacked servers

The servers of Swiss RUAG were hacked, and the attackers obtained 20 GB of data. The theft has only just come to light, but all indications are that the attackers have been active since 2014. Authorities believe that the intruders were targeting information related to the Armor projects, so, likely, this was not a “simple” break-in but industrial espionage.
