According to Google, two-factor identification works well

The world of cybersecurity is constantly changing and evolving, with innovations always appearing. What does two-factor identification (2FA) mean?

Two-factor identification is a security measure that adds an extra step to the login process. You might have seen this in a text message or phone call, but it can also take other forms, such as entering a code from your bank card or getting another password from a different source.

Since last year, Google has been turning on two-factor authentication (2FA) for more and more user accounts, which means that you don’t just have to enter a password to sign in – you also have to verify that you are the person you want to sign in on another device.

The other device is conveniently a smartphone. Google says the method is working well: it has been turned on 150 million accounts and statistics show that the number of hijacked accounts has halved.
